Leadership Learning Series 2025-26

The Macomb ISD is hosting The Adaptive Schools Foundational Learning Sessions as part of our Leadership Learning Series. Adaptive Schools provides a research-based framework to help school leaders develop a collective efficacy with their teams, leading to improved decision-making, instructional coherence, and a more adaptive school environment. The target audience are school leaders including, but not limited to, principals, central office administration, and coaches.

The cost of the Leadership Learning Series will be $250 per person for the full series. You will receive SCECHs for each session you attend up to 30 for the full series. All questions should be directed to asemanson@misd.net.

Target Audience: New Teachers (1-3 years)

Reminder: This course can earn EITHER New Teacher Hours or SCECHs, but not both. If you are registering for this course, we will assume you wish to earn NTA hours. If you wish to earn SCECHs instead, or are otherwise not looking for new teacher hours, please register for Course #6790 instead. NTA Teachers may retake this course, but only to complete units that have previously not been finished.

Looking to take your professional practice to the next level with effective use of technology AND receive county-wide recognition all for FREE?

Participants will have 8 months to complete four self-paced online courses and four digital artifacts to support their blended learning growth. In addition to coursework support from the MISD IT Consultants and MADE Instructors, participants will have opportunities to network with fellow educators during four after-school sessions (dates listed below). This program is FREE.

Each of the four self-paced unit will now have windows of completion to finish all work before moving on to the next section.

Alternative Counselor Connection

The Alternative Counselor Connection is a reoccurring monthly series open to school counselors and student success staff who work in a secondary alternative setting. This in-person workshop is geared toward exploring and creating a robust school counseling program unique to the needs of your student population with a heavy focus on career development and post-secondary planning.

SCECHs (pending state approval) which will be issued in a passport format. The SCECH application fee is $10 - forms and fees will be collected on the last class date. Participants are highly encouraged to attend all sessions.

Planning a Field Trip to the Detroit Historical Museum

Detroit Historical Museum

Date & Time: The date for this field trip workshop to the Detroit Historical Museum will be determined once a minimum tour group of 15 teachers has registered. After reaching this minimum number, a survey will be sent to all registered participants to identify a future date and time that works best for the majority of the group. This flexible scheduling approach ensures the highest possible participation and allows the tour to be coordinated at a time that accommodates teachers' availability.

Presenter/Tour Guide: Detroit Historical Museum staff

Join fellow elementary educators for an engaging professional learning experience centered around a visit to the Detroit Historical Museum. Participants will take part in the Historical Perspectives Tour, a guided journey through over 300 years of Detroit's history - from Native American footpaths to the rise of major industries and waves of immigration. This 60-minute tour offers a powerful lens into the city's evolving landscape and the diverse communities that have shaped it. Following the tour, educators will participate in a debrief and planning session led by the district's social studies consultant. The discussion will highlight curriculum connections, strategies for using local history to bring social studies content to life, and practical guidance for organizing a successful museum field trip for students. This session is designed to help elementary teachers discover the educational opportunities offered by the museum and feel confident in planning meaningful, standards-aligned learning experiences outside the classroom.

NVCI Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Blended Learning Initial Training
Open to Macomb County Public School Employees ONLY

This course is now being offered as blended learning training, combining independent online work with live training and instruction time. This initial training is for those who are not currently certified. Emphasis is on early intervention and non-physical methods for preventing or managing disruptive behavior. Will reinforce preventative techniques and teach principles of non-harmful physical intervention. This training is only offered in person with hands on requirement.**

The Online portion will be sent to participants 7 days before the training. If participants fail to complete the online work before the training, they will not be allowed to complete the physical part at the training.

Cost: $45.00 Total
